melbourne in retrospect

James Tyrrell, of Harper & Charlie, captures Melbourne in a way that deeply binds us to the city’s story and our memories of it. Drawing upon archival photographs of buildings and places, some of them long-gone but often not forgotten, the Melbourne-based illustrator reimagines the city’s changing landscape in a style that evokes the same period, reminiscent of vintage travel posters.

OuR WAY

Our Way explores how Indigenous artists are reimagining storytelling today, expanding on the diverse artistic traditions presented in 65,000 Years: A Short History of Australian Art, the landmark exhibition currently showing at the Potter Museum of Art. Guided by cultural knowledge passed down through generations, the artists in this exhibition honour existing practices while pushing creative boundaries.

Woven stories from Timor-Leste

In 2003, within a year of Timor-Leste's independence, a women's art cooperative called LO'UD was founded. Through the lens of traditional Timorese tais weaving and supporting photography, we hear the stories of Timorese women's strength, resilience and hope for the future in a two-part exhibition and symposium, Tais, Culture & Resilience.
